Learn through Workshops

I have recently attended one day workshop called “Creating New Business Opportunities Using What You Have” by Willem Gous at Liverpool University.

Workshops and Trainings

industrial-691376_640I have been trying to push myself to attend as many trainings and workshops as possible this year so far. One of my best and most rewarding decision so far. It accelerates your learning, can be a great networking opportunity, it teaches but more importantly it involves you and helps to really understand.

Willem Gous

He did an amazing job in this one day workshop. My expectations were mixed at the beginning as I was a bit unsure who he was. His landing page was well crafted, he seemed like a smart guy who knew what he was talking about which is why I thought I would give it a go. It cost 45£ which is good for a whole day training. I was hesitant for the entire week until I said to myself – Screw it, Let’s do it!

“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.”

Exceeded my expectations

Willem is really good at presenting and have great conversational skills. Full of charisma, funny and keeps you entertained well for the entire 8 hours workshop.

I saw other people in the group who really engaged as some of the questions were really important in self-discovery. Often we forget to ask ourselves what we have around us – skills, connections, qualities, qualifications. How we can use it to push ourselves forward? It was covered smoothly and provided some great insights for most people.

Focused on the business side and the right way of starting. This part really engaged me and provided me an enormous value. His innovative way of starting and doing business was really fascinating. It was like a milkshake of well-known books – Lean Entrepreneur, E-myth, Rich Dad Poor Dad and other best sellers.book-912721_640

Play time!

Willem peaked our group interest through games. He would first introduce the idea, explain it well and then make us play with it to really learn through the experience.

For those who are still confused with their definite goal, unsure about what they really want in life or just hoping to start a business but unsure where to begin – Willem provides a free course online and he does mentoring sessions too.

Importance of attending workshops and trainings

books-1155565_640Often we tend to form a certain frame through which we view our life. This frame is invisible to us but it shapes our every day experiences and how we interact with our surroundings.

“Confidence comes from discipline and training.”
– Robert Kiyosaki

Meeting people who have taken their time to design courses, learned through their own experiences can re-frame your vision. Provide a different angle to the views which we hold and therefore help us get better and improve faster.

This may not be the main goal of workshops or trainings but surely it does come into play. It can be a great way to meet people who share your passions. I was in the group who were from all walks of life yet they shared similar ideas. I’ve got at least 2-3 great connections just because I showed up and talked to people.

Pay yourself first

Some of you may or may not be familiar with this term, it usually surfaces when it comes to savings and investing. Here however, I would like to use it for a different meaning. Invest into yourself, spend the time and money to learn and improve. Your mind will be your greatest asset in the future.
